Lifting beam
Lifting beams are two-dimensional spreader beams for two or more load attachment points that lie on a line. With symmetrical attachment at two load attachment points, each point bears 50% of the load. If the attachment points are adjustable, they can be set so that the crane hook receptacle is outside the geometric center and thus above an asymmetrical load center of gravity. It is important to ensure that the attachment points closer to the crane hook (and therefore the lifting gear attached to them) are loaded more heavily than those further away.
