Colour coding of textile slings
Polyester lifting slings are perfect for lifting operations where equipment is required that will not damage or compromise the surface of the load. You may have noticed that webbing slings and round slings are available in various colors, and there is a good reason for this! The color of a sling adheres to specific guidelines outlined in EN 1492-1 (for webbing slings) and EN 1492-2 (for round slings). According to the European standard, polyester slings are assigned a specific color to make it quick and easy to identify their working load limit (WLL). By referring to the table below, you can determine the maximum WLL and the corresponding color coding, which are:
1-ton sling = violett
2-ton sling = grün
3-ton sling = gelb
4-ton sling = grau
5-ton sling = rot
6-ton sling = braun
8-ton sling = blau
10-ton sling and up = orange
In addition to color coding, there are other methods to indicate the WLL of a polyester lifting sling. The most reliable way is through the sling's label.
Polyester slings must have a blue label stitched onto them, containing the required markings and related information.
A portion of this label with duplicate information is sewn under the cover overlap for reference purposes. On the visible part of the label, you will find critical information such as the manufacturer ID, year of manufacture, material, effective working length (EWL), serial number, the European standard number, and the maximum working load limit (WLL).
